No one “deserves” to be physically or emotionally abused, no one “asks for” sexual abuse in any form – whether through verbal harassment or inappropriate touching or rape. Words can be violent and demeaning. Slapping, hitting, shoving, or yanking someone’s arm is painful and violent and must not be tolerated. Adults and children in abusive situations need a safe place to go, where they will be sheltered, counseled, surrounded by gentle caring. Domestic violence can be insidious and the cycle can be perpetuated from generation to generation. We support groups that intervene to break the devastating cycle of domestic violence, to nurture and heal the families.
